Dr. Perlmutter graduated from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Dentistry in 1970 with a DDS degree. He went on to complete an internship at the Genesee Hospital in Rochester, New York, where he gained experience in specialized areas including prosthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, and oral surgery.
Upon his return to Toronto, he joined Bramalea & Malton Dental Group and became a member of the Ontario Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. A hallmark of Dr. Perlmutter's career is his commitment to excellence in study and practice. He passed the Academy of General Dentistry Fellowship Exam, earning a place in the top tenth percentile of candidates.
By 1979, Dr. Perlmutter relocated his practice to the current site at 40 Peel Centre Drive, which became Bramalea Dentistry in 1993. Staff and patients alike enjoy this location, with its plentiful natural light and views of the outdoor greenery from every patient operatory and reception room.
As a perennial student, Dr. Perlmutter has presented his own work and concepts at the Toronto and American Academies of Cosmetic Dentistry. He twice earned top prize at the Toronto Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry's annual "Smile Gallery Competition," and he continues presenting to this day.
Community work is important to Dr. Perlmutter. He has practiced volunteer dentistry in Israel on 4 occasions, primarily at the Trudi Birger Memorial Children's Dental Clinic in Jerusalem.
As a family man, Dr. Perlmutter takes great pride in the accomplishments of his wife and two daughters. In his free time, he is a choir member and occasional soloist with Beth Tikvah Synagogue Choir in Toronto. Dr. Perlmutter also enjoys playing ping-pong, chess, and basketball. Another of his passions is photography, and he has acted as an amateur videographer. He has a vast collection of photos and videos that he records and edits for family and friends.
Lastly, Dr. Perlmutter values continued education. He attends reputable seminars, conferences, and workshops around the world. He is always open to new ways of treating his patients and promoting good oral health and beautiful smiles.
