Splinting
In this procedure, teeth and/or implants are joined together. A weak, loose tooth can be stabilized by attaching it to adjacent secure teeth. Distributing forces to multiple teeth and/or implants minimizes the effect on any one unit. Splinting can be done using direct bonding of composite resin, sometimes reinforced by Ribbond. Teeth can be splinted with cast metal, porcelain-coated metal, zirconium, or acrylic restorations.
